Photos Lilypad Garden - High Speed
If you've got a slow connection, check out the album labeled dial up. We started Lilypad
in 2005 and it is still a work in progress.
We started with woods....
Fill for the driveway, house pad & swamp road....
...came off of the property....
....leaving us with a lovely, sloped meadow.
The road through our swamp,
accessing the rear of the property,
gave me my first planting opportunity - free range daylilies.
The house grew....
....and progressed....
....and we moved in during the summer of 2006.
Now we split time between Eden and Lilypad.
I used my stained glass skills....
....to add some special touches.
This inlayed floor medallion was patterned on one of my seedlings.
Meanwhile, weed control was an ongoing project....
....and still is!
The gardens were being planned for the rear area of the backyard...
Beds also went in around the house....
Some then....
...and now pictures.
The first section of the main garden is about 5,000 square feet.
It is deer fenced & electrified.
The daylilies have to share space with the veggies...
As space got tight, we added another 1,500 sq. ft. in this extension....
....then exterior beds around the outside of the fence, at least another 1,000 sq. ft.
Then we added a 12 x 30 ft. polycarbonate greenhouse....
....where we start all kinds of seedlings and overwinter some of our more tropical plants.
I have also started an iris bed in an area that is constantly wet from the runoff from the house.
All in all, we're pleased with the bounty of the harvest at Lilypad...
....and are eagerly awaiting each new sunrise.
